Kepler's first trip to the beach

Today was Kepler's first trip to the beach!

The Tennessee Valley trail in Marin has always been one of our favorite hikes. The whole time Charmaine was pregnant, we talked about how we would do this hike one day with Kepler. Today was that day. Well, hopefully the first of many.

It was a beautiful day (around 70 degrees) and there were lots of people out enjoying the day. Kepler enjoyed it. Or at least she seemed to. She slept but was alert and taking in all of the new sensations for a lot of it.

Kepler's love/hate relationship with the binky

There are times when the binky is like baby crack. And then there are times when the binky is not. We're not ninja enough yet to realize what drives those two states. We just cram the thing in her mouth and see what happens. It's usually funny. Usually.

(On a side note, I just found out why they're called binkys. Apparently there was a company named Binky that made them for a long time. Thus binky. Or, I suppose, Binky.)

Chad visit

Chad came all the way from Africa for a too-brief visit with his new niece. He arrived on a Thursday and left the next Tuesday.

I take baby bear out for a Saturday morning stroll

The Bjorn is a wonderful way to go out for walks. I imagine this will be even more true when she's older and can hold her head up. For now, she seems to love the warmth. And, per usual, she sleeps the whole time.

Lee, this one is for you

Lee knitted an amazing sweater and two hats. Here you can see sweetie modeling them. Unfortunately, since the shot was taken indoors, you get the impression that it's 14 degrees in the house. That's not true. It's a solid 22 degrees. In the day time.

Like mother like daughter

Charmaine has decided that she needs to become a baby stylist. My fear is that I'm going to come home to some Jon Benet Ramsey type of scariness some day...except instead of rhinestone-cowgirl, we'll have Mission-hipster.

His majesty.

We're lucky he still lets us sleep on the bed.

Kisses

I can safely say that I've never kissed a woman in a bear outfit. Lion, yes. But no bear.

(Charmaine, that was a joke (I've never actually kissed another woman))

Folds.

Kepler has some serious folds going on!

Kepler's room in use

I love this photograph. It really shows off her room so well. It's not usually this messy but it certainly is lived in now.

Ebi and Mies

Who knows, maybe the addition of Kepler has drawn them closer together. Sharing an enemy or a threat is certainly one way to unite. (Although, neither of them seem to mind Kepler at all. If anything, I think they love having her here because it means that were at home that much more.)

Barb, Bryce, Janeen and Kepler

Barb and Bryce came to town for a couple of weeks. They spent the majority of their time up in Napa but did make it to San Francisco a few times to see Kepler.

Nana, Kepler, Ebi

Another image from a few weeks ago. Ebi was obsessed with momma when she was here. She was clamoring to sit on her lap whenever there was an opening. Here, she teeters on the edge while Nana attempts to focus on sweetie.

Kepler's first walk outside

While we're on the subject of firsts that happened a few weeks ago, here's Kepler's first stroll outdoors. This happened while we're up at Calistoga Ranch. I'm pretty sure this was more of a big deal for us than it was for her. She slept. The whole time.

Kepler's first bath

This actually happened a few weeks ago but it's still worth putting up here. Kepler wasn't so in to the water although she seems to have gotten more used to it now.

Megan comes by for a visit

Megan came down from Cloverdale to see Kepler. Jeremy and Julian didn't make the journey unfortunately. We'll have to head up there way in the spring.

Kepler's hand and foot print

Well, it took us a month to get around to doing it so they're a little bigger than they really should be. They're still super cute though!
